+ Why does it says "Out of Film" when it's not out of film?
This is a generic error message (that can be changed).
Look to the very bottom line for the actual error code which
will point you to the more specific area of the problem

PE = *Error while printing
PB = *Error while initializing
M1 = Ribbon out/error on Printer 1
M2 = Ribbon out/error on Printer 2
P1 = Paper out/error on Printer 1
P2 = Paper out/error on Printer 2
A7 = Bill Acceptor Error

+ I've checked the paper but I'm still getting an out of film message?
Every time you change the paper you should do a physical reinitialization of the printer (if that doesn’t work we reinitialize the software).
To Reinitialize the printer, you hold the two left buttons on the printer:
1. First make sure the Power is on to the Printer
2. Press and hold the Monitor button (farthest left of the group of 3 oval shaped button on the upper right portion).
3. Then press the Memory button for at least one second, or until the paper begins to move; then release both buttons
4. The paper moves back and forth as the counters are being reset, and then a piece is cut off.
5. Repeat 2-4
6. Reboot the system
If that was the problem then the it should be working properly when it reboots…
If it comes back to the red (error) screen then test to see if the printer is printing properly:
Press the Memory button (middle button) and then the Print (right button) in succession.
It should print whatever is currently on the screen.
If that works, then the software needs to be reinitialized. If that does not work, then there is still a physical problem with the printer.
+ How Do I Reinitialize the Printer Software?
How to Initialize in a Kodak
1. Press the keys one at a time: "ESC" t e c
2. Click on Kodak Toolbox in the lower left-hand corner.
3. Click Launch Tec Tools
4. Click ‘Yes’
5. Look at the third icon down from the top on the left. It will say “Media Type”. Make sure it says “StickerS”, if it doesn’t click on the “Media Type” icon and select StickerS.
6. Single Click the icon directly above the Media Type that says “Printer 1”
7. This will prompt you to power the printer down and turn it back on while holding the memory button until the S-Video light comes on. Do so and hold the Memory button for 2 seconds after the S-Video light comes on. DON'T click outside of the box. Click the “Ok”. If everything is right it will take about 3 to 4 minutes to reset the printer.
8. Once it is done click “Ok”
9. Repeat the process for printer 2 starting at the single clicking the “Printer 1” icon.
10. Once that is done, click exit to restart the computer.
11. Do a test vend to ensure the printer is working. Then do an account reading to ensure that is also working.
+ The paper is "Fanning Up" & getting caught in the printer, can I fix this?
A problem with the Kodak StickerPrints getting caught up inside the printer (Fanning up like an accordion ), can
sometimes be fixed with a little 3 in 1 oil. Please read through entire email before starting for important information.
First make sure that this is not a case of some sticker paper caught up inside the opening of the of the printer paper dispenser, causing
the paper to jam when it comes out. Use a credit card (first open the printer drawer, remove paper and ink cartridge, and release the paper tension by pushing the green tab), and check to make sure the opening is clear by pushing the CC through the small opening where the paper comes out of the printer. Feel and listen for anything “catching” the card. Also look behind the opening for the card coming through to see if you see a “hanging chad” being pushed by the card. Remove all pieces found.
Assuming there is no sticker pieces partially jamming the printer, move onto the oil maintenance.
Here’s how:
1. Power down unit and unplug from wall, and remove paper/Ink cartridge from printer.
2. Remove nuts and bracket holding the printer.
3. Lay the printer on its side on the printer self with the printer drawer open.
Note: If you prefer to remove the printer from the unit, loosen the two small screws that mount the bracket holding the cables going
into the back of the printer – do not cut the cable ties (this will make it more difficult to re-connect the printer).
4. Locate the two gear axels that run across the printer, and place a few drops of 3 in 1 oil (or similar product) on the end of the axels.
5. Let the printer sit overnight on its side.
6. Turn the printer on its other side and repeat step 4 and 5
7. Reinstall printer, and reinstall paper/ink cartridge.
8. Power up the unit
9. Reinitialize the printer twice (so that the paper goes in and out of the printer and cuts off a sheet), if this works you’ve fixed the problem
+ My Monitor Goes Black after booting up - Why?
Most likely, because of the age of the computer the internal lithium battery is going dead. This cause the clock to not function properly which affects the sleep mode.
Note: If you have recently changed the battery and know that's not the problem - check FAQ> How do I reset the Sleep Timers?
Following are directionns on how to change the battery.
Battery Type: Lithium CR2032 3 volt
NOTE: If this does not fix the problem you may need to reset the sleepmode times check the next FAQ for details on this.
If you are not comfortable opening and working on computers you may want to hire a local computer tech.
1. Unplug the Kodak unit from the power outlet.
2. Open the front and back door to access both sides of the computer
3. Remove the front door completely (for better access and removal of the computer)
a. remove nut from bolt holding the chains connected to the door
b. lift door out of hinge slots
4. From the back door remove all connections to the computer (back and top interface board)
a. Please note how/where all connections go – you may want to take digital pictures of the connections prior
to removing any of the wires.
5. Remove the Computer bracket by loosening and/or removing the nuts on either side of the computer
6. Remove the computer from the unit
7. Remove the front plate from the computer and remove cover from the computer
8. Locate the Battery (about the size of a $.25 cent coin) on the mother board and replace
9. More Battery information below
10. Replace all the above in reverse order
11. CAUTION – the connections (especially the ones on top of the computer going to the interface board) have sensitive pins that can easily bend.
DO NOT FORCE any connections. Make sure that the pins are aligned properly when re-seating! If they are not the system will not work and further damage could occur.
+ How do I Change the Computer Battery?
See previous FAQ (Why does my Monitor go black...?)
+ How do I reset the Sleep Timers?
Checking/setting the Sleep Times:
Once in the “launch pad” (when in rotation hit the “esc” button and type “tec”) screen (where the large icons come up so you can change graphics or go into the accounting screen…) you are going to click on the “Kiosk Set-up” Icon and then “Timers”
There you will find the start and stop times (in military time) to enter and save.
Note: Make sure that the shut off time is After Midnight. So being military time it needs to be 00.01 or later. Also, it has to be shut down for at least 30 minutes – so the earliest start up time should be 00.31.
You can also click to bypass the sleep mode all together.
Also check the computers date and time properties to see if they are correct (adjusted for day light savings time etc. correctly)
If after doing this the system slips back into this pattern, it could be that the computer’s internal battery needs to be replaced. It is simple to do, however you would need to remove the computer and open it up. The battery replacement is common: Lithium CR2032 3 volt
